Reach your AI agent on Telegram

Connect Telegram to your Fleece AI Team agent and it starts answering messages as a Telegram bot. The agent reads the message, applies the instructions on its profile, and responds — in text or voice, using the same cloned voice it uses on phone calls. It draws on the same knowledge sources, follows the same personality traits, and carries the same identity as on WhatsApp, Slack or email. A customer who messages the agent on Telegram gets the same answer as a colleague who asks it in Slack.

Telegram as a bot channel

On Telegram, the agent appears as a bot — the one you create through the Fleece AI Team dashboard. It has the name you gave it, the portrait you generated, and it responds to messages the way any Telegram bot does.

The agent reads text messages, voice notes and files. Text is processed directly, voice notes are transcribed before processing, and text is extracted from image and PDF attachments. The response can be text or a voice note, depending on what you configure.

What the agent knows on Telegram is the same as everywhere else. It reads the same system prompt, the same knowledge documents, and applies the same personality traits. A customer who spoke to the agent on WhatsApp and then messages it on Telegram gets a consistent answer.

Where Telegram fits

Telegram is popular in Europe, Russia, Turkey, India and parts of Southeast Asia. If your customers or your team use Telegram, the agent is there — answering in the same way it answers on WhatsApp or Slack.

Telegram's bot ecosystem also supports features like inline queries and menu buttons. The agent can respond to inline queries — for example, a customer types @youragent in any chat and the agent responds there, without the customer needing to message the agent directly.

The agent does not replace a human for complex Telegram conversations. It handles the cases it knows, and when it does not, it follows the escalation instructions you gave it — whether that is deferring to a human, suggesting documentation, or asking the customer to clarify.

Telegram groups

The agent can be added to Telegram groups. In a group, it responds to messages that mention it — either by name or by tagging. This is useful for team communication: a question in a Telegram group about the refund policy can be answered by the agent, without the group members needing to message the agent directly.

The agent respects group settings. If the group administrator restricts bot permissions, the agent follows those restrictions. It cannot read messages it was not mentioned in, and it cannot perform actions that the group settings do not allow.

How to connect Telegram to your AI agent

  1. 01

    Create or select the agent

Open the agent's profile in the Fleece AI Team dashboard. The portrait and voice you generate there are what the agent shows on Telegram.

  2. 02

Connect Telegram from the Channels page

Go to the Channels section of the dashboard, find Telegram, and connect. The platform manages the Telegram bot token.

  3. 03

    Test with a message

Message the agent's Telegram bot. It should respond using the instructions and knowledge on its profile.

Questions, answered

Do I need a Telegram bot token?

+

No. The platform manages the Telegram bot token. You connect from the Fleece AI Team dashboard — you do not need to create a bot through BotFather.

Can the agent respond to voice notes on Telegram?

+

Yes. The agent transcribes voice notes before processing them, and can respond with text or a voice note using its cloned voice.

Can the agent be added to Telegram groups?

+

Yes. The agent can participate in groups and respond to messages that mention it.

What happens when the agent does not know the answer?

+

It follows the instructions on its profile — it can say it does not know, suggest documentation, or defer to a human colleague.

Can the agent send files on Telegram?

+

The agent can send text responses and voice notes. It does not generate or send file attachments.

Does the agent see all Telegram messages?

+
